Bereavement Support for Children & Families
Ele’s Place – A dedicated healing center offering support to grieving children, teens, and young adults who have lost a family member, providing crucial peer support groups for them and their families.
Henry Ford SandCastles – Henry Ford SandCastles offers grief support to children, teens, and families who have experienced the death of a loved one.
New Hope Center for Grief Support – New Hope offers ongoing loss-specific peer support groups to help to help bereaved individuals in their grief journey.
Arbor Hospice & Hospice of Michigan – Provides grief support groups and guidance to anyone seeking resources to help cope with loss. Also offers an annual children’s grief camp in three locations across Michigan.
Grandparents Raising Grandchildren
Michigan State University Kinship Care Resource Center – The Kinship Care Resource Center serves kinship care families across the state by providing information and referrals to resources and services for caregivers and the children they are raising. KCRC also offers support to professionals serving kinship families.
Detroit Area Agency on Aging – The DAAA’s Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Committee supports caregivers to understand their parenting role and youth trends, and equips them with tools to help raise their grandchildren and kinship relatives.
Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency – OLHSA’s Grandparents Raising Grandchildren program provides free services to grandparents who reside in the same home as related children in kinship care in Oakland, Livingston, and Macomb Counties.
Addiction & Recovery Resources
Face Addiction Now – Face Addiction Now is a community-based organization for those seeking recovery, those in recovery, family members affected by addiction, and community supporters.
Washtenaw Alano Club – The Washtenaw Alano Club operates a vital support center where 12-step recovery programs can hold meetings, host social events and provide community-building opportunities for recovering alcoholics and addicts.
Dawn Farm – Dawn Farm offers a continuum of long-term treatment services to help people achieve long-term recovery.
Alcoholic Anonymous – virtual meetings – Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.
Narcotics Anonymous – virtual meetings – Virtual NA is a globally-based collaborative service resource whose primary purpose is to provide a meeting search for both Online and Phone line meetings of Narcotics Anonymous hosted from different countries around the world.
Al-Anon/Alateen – Al‑Anon is a mutual support program for people whose lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking. Alateen, a part of the Al-Anon Family Groups, is a fellowship of young people (mostly teenagers) whose lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking.
Harm Reduction Resources
Partnership to End Addiction – Partnership to End Addiction serves families impacted by substance use. Their mission is to transform how our nation addresses addiction by empowering families, advancing effective care, shaping public policy and changing culture.
National Harm Reduction Coalition – The National Harm Reduction Coalition is a nationwide advocate and ally for people who use drugs. They offer harm reduction strategies around safer drug use.
National Coalition Against Prescription Drug Abuse – The National Coalition Against Prescription Drug Abuse is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization established to prevent prescription drug/opioid-related substance use disorder and overdose deaths through community education, policy change, and legislative action at the local, state and federal levels.
NEXT Distro – NEXT Distro is an online and mail-based harm reduction program. They mail free resources to people who use drugs living in areas without an existing in-person harm reduction program. They also support the friends and family of people who use drugs by providing free naloxone and overdose reversal education.

988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline and Michigan Crisis & Access Line (MiCAL) – The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, formally known as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL), is a 24/7 toll-free nationwide hotline where compassionate care and accessible support is available. Lifeline call centers are free and confidential.
Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration – The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration is the agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that leads public health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation and to improve the lives of individuals living with mental and substance use disorders, and their families.
